MCD Technology Investments Inc. today announced that all fifteen clinical modules of RLES AI® — its clinical decision support platform for refractive laser eye surgery and cataract/RLE planning — are complete and running in clinical pilot with registered ophthalmic surgeons across several countries. The platform will be shown internationally for the first time at the 44th Congress of the ESCRS, 11–15 September 2026, Excel London, ahead of commercial availability in November 2026.
A surgeon photographs the patient’s investigation printouts, or simply speaks the values into the phone. Minutes later a signature-ready planning report opens on the same screen: tissue budget calculated, ectasia risk screened, the clinic’s own device nomogram applied, and every recommendation carrying the rule, the formula and the source it rests on. Analyze. Detect. Plan. Explain.
IT LOOKS FOR A REASON NOT TO OPERATE — FIRST
Most planning software starts from the question “how shall we do this operation?” RLES AI starts from the opposite one. Before it plans anything, it tries to find a reason not to: keratoconus and ectasia indices, tissue floors, contact-lens warpage that can deform a map the device itself calls normal, tear-film artefacts, dry eye, glaucoma signs, medication and systemic history. The rule set was distilled from a large real-world surgical series — including thousands of eyes that were found unsuitable. Software that has only ever seen operated eyes never learns the answer to “why not”. That is where this product’s safety thresholds come from.
NOT A CHATBOT — A LOCKED, EXPLAINABLE RULE SET
RLES AI is not a general-purpose assistant that talks about anything. Its scope is locked to eye surgery planning, and its sources are locked to three: the surgeon-approved clinical rule, a peer-reviewed publication with its citation, or the manufacturer’s document identifier. An item without a source label cannot enter the engine or be printed in a report. Missing data is never quietly filled in — it is written as “not reported”. Ask “why is this threshold what it is?” and the software answers with the rule, the formula and the reference.
THE NOMOGRAM BELONGS TO THE DEVICE
Ring, vacuum, blade, optical zone and transition zone values belong to each device’s own published table. RLES AI carries those tables verbatim — and if a device’s profile is not loaded, it produces no recommendation at all rather than substituting another device’s numbers. Med-Logics ML7, Moria M2 and One Use-Plus SBK, B+L Hansatome and Zyoptix XP, with excimer profiles from Alcon, Excelsius, SCHWIND, Technolas and Zeiss.
THE SAME CASE GIVES THE SAME ANSWER
Tissue budgets, keratometry windows, hinge geometry and IOL power are computed in deterministic code, not generated by a language model. Run the same case twice and the numbers are identical. Every value read from a document is shown back to the surgeon together with the text it was read from, and nothing enters the calculation until the surgeon confirms it.
FROM THE FIRST SCREEN TO THE CATARACT DECADES LATER
The fifteen modules follow one patient through a lifetime of eye care: the first ectasia screen, laser planning, keratoconus treatment, retreatment, presbyopia, phakic ICL, dry eye and glaucoma screening, complication analysis, outcome recording — and the Refractive Passport, which stores today’s measurements so that the cataract surgeon who operates on the same eye twenty years from now is not left guessing.

RLES AI will be presented at the 44th Congress of the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons — 11–15 September 2026, Excel London, Royal Victoria Dock. Surgeons attending the congress can bring an anonymised case of their own and watch it run end to end on screen: the investigations read, the safety engine tested, the device nomogram applied and the report opened — with the rule behind every recommendation shown on request. THE PRINCIPLE THE WHOLE PLATFORM IS BUILT ON
The software neither decides nor diagnoses. It tests every option against the rules, shows the surgeon what each option costs in tissue and in risk, and then steps back. A flawless operation begins with a flawless plan — but the plan is a proposal, and the decision is the surgeon’s, in every single case.
The platform runs as a mobile interface on the surgeon’s own phone, with nothing to install from an app store, and serves in sixteen languages. Its clinical rules are developed with practising surgeons on the company’s Medical Advisory Board, none of whom has any financial interest, monetary or in kind, in the clinical analysis and validation work.
RLES AI is clinical decision support software for professional use. It does not hold FDA 510(k) clearance and no such claim is made; modules that depend on image analysis are disabled in the US Edition pending regulatory submission. Following the London presentation, commercial launch is targeted for November 2026 in Türkiye and the European Union.
